My love for this banana palm spanned over the course of a year or so, as I photographed it repeatedly. Sadly, Monterey had a really nasty storm in 2008, and it was destroyed. I had a deep love for the colors and textures of the leaves, and depending on the current light I was shooting in, it would photograph in multiple degrees of green and red. I will miss my friend Fire Palm.
Windy Osborn was first published in the early 70s at age 14, shooting bicycle motocross. She worked for Wizard Publications, Inc. for 17 years shooting for BMX Action Magazine, Freestylin' Magazine and Homeboy Magazine, and developed a craft and style that made her mark as a cutting edge photographer, being the only professional female photographer in the industry of bicycle motocross, freestyle and skateboarding. Windy has been honored for her historic contributions to the sport of bicycle motocross with an induction into the National BMX Hall of Fame at the US Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California, in 2012.
